Sometimes life can feel like a struggle and at times we may feel unhappy, frustrated, lonely or stuck. We might find ourselves experiencing a variety of troubling thoughts, feelings and behaviours, have relationship concerns or simply just have a feeling that things aren’t quite right or could be better. At these times we may wonder where to go for help.

Talking with a professional counsellor in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental setting, may help you begin to understand your problems and identify the changes you wish to make. 

As a professional counsellor, I encourage you to talk about the difficulties and challenges you are experiencing, helping you explore and understand your thinking, feelings, behaviour and relationships with others. I listen to you in a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental way so together we can identify and understand the problems you are experiencing. I work with you to explore and clarify the changes you want to make and support you on your journey through making positive changes in your life. This may include identifying new coping strategies and ways of managing your emotions and difficulties to help improve your wellbeing.

I am experienced and able to offer support with a wide range of difficulties including:

I am trained and work within a framework called Transactional Analysis (TA) and use an integrative approach, drawing from a variety of cognitive, psychoanalytical, psychodynamic and relational traditions of working. I sometimes incorporate CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), solution-focused coaching and mindfulness into my work depending on my clients individual needs

I have a warm and open style of working and my general approach, as a therapist, is to take an active part in our work together. This means, sometimes I will ask you questions, I will share my reflections, I will offer my interpretations and sometimes I will share theory with you. I am passionate about working as a therapist and feel strongly that although therapy can be challenging at times, it can also be emotionally empowering and motivating.

My Experience

I have experiencing providing counselling for Mind, a National mental health charity, for a busy South London, private counselling service and at St Catherines’ Hospice in Sussex.

I am also a qualified personal development coach and have been providing coaching to individuals in career development and work-related issues since 2014. I find this gives me the opportunity to offer solution focused coaching skills within my counselling work if appropriate.

I have 20 years health management experience working for both the NHS and within the charity sector and have worked within mental health (at South London & Maudsley NHS Trust) and primary care (Bromley and Lewisham NHS organisations).  I have knowledge and experience of working with people experiencing work-related stress and anxiety in the workplace. 

First steps:

I offer a free 30 minute initial telephone consultation where I will ask you a few questions about yourself and the difficulties you have been experiencing so that we can begin to understand a little more about your concerns and needs. This is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you may have about having counselling.  If you then wish to go ahead, we will book an appointment for you at a convenient time. 

I offer both short term and long term (open ended) therapy currently only working with female clients.
