Psychotherapy offers the possibility to explore our authentic thoughts and feelings and to consider the impact on our lives of events and relationships that are both happening right now or happened long ago when we were young and defenceless. Using an integrative approach I believe  gaining an understanding of how we have been shaped by all our experiences can help us manage current issues and learn to trust in our own feelings and perceptions.

Having worked in the field of counselling and psychotherapy for 20 years including as a lecturer in counsellor training .  I have a special interest in bereavement care and life transitions, as well as personal identity and growth.

The therapeutic relationship needs to be sincere and without judgement to facilitate our capacity for self- love and self – acceptance.

At times of crisis we can be shaken to the core, we feel like everything in our life is changing and we have lost our sense of safety. Our intimate and family relationships break down, our adult children grow up and leave home, we retire or lose our jobs, or someone we love dies and we are bereft.  Alternatively we suddenly find ourselves at home with young children and the familiar anchors of our identity have shifted and we lose a sense of ourselves.

I also offer counselling supervision in both private practice and counselling training.

As a member of BACP I work withing their guidelines.
