Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (registration number 397703)
I am a fully qualified therapeutic counsellor experienced in supporting individuals and couples with relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, anger, issues around bereavement/loss, and traumatic past experiences. I offer both counselling and EMDR sessions for individuals or a mix of the two. I offer Imago Therapy for couples. Counselling can be short or long-term and goals and progress are regularly reviewed.
My approach is person-centred and solution-focused. I hold a warm, inclusive, judgement-free space for deep personal growth. Together we will explore different ways of looking at things and also explore how you arrived at your current situation. Discovering your inner strengths, gaining new insights, and developing the skills you need to achieve the life you desire. Not all work is about the past; sometimes the focus is on acquiring practical skills in the here and now to face new challenges.
Meeting with you however you are feeling, even if you are nervous and unsure, I don’t rely on a “one-size-fits-all” approach to healing, I aim to offer you what you need.
I am a registered EMDR therapist and regularly integrate this evidence-based approach and EFT (‘tapping’) into my therapeutic practice. It is something you may want to dip in an out of throughout our time together.
Through my counselling services I have helped:
Frightened people find their courage and strengthen their ability to master fear, panic and worry.
Couples find the lightness, hope and energy to live more joyful lives.
Angry people learn how to manage their outbursts and heal its roots.
Trauma Survivors heal emotionally and leave the burdens of the past behind.
Military Personnel and First Responders process their experiences in a safe, supportive space.
Self-Transformation Seekers learn how to free themselves from their limiting thoughts and feelings and live the life they want to live.
I worked in mental health research for 20 years at the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College London and the UK Ministry of Defence. In my research career I have worked with adults and children who have experienced adverse childhoods, socioeconomic disadvantage and trauma. I spent 10 years working with serving and discharged military personnel and their families and am passionate about helping my clients live satisfying and productive lives.
Previously I have worked as a Bereavement Support Volunteer with St Christopher’s Hospice in Sydenham, SE London.
I work with individuals and couples. Fees for individual counselling or EMDR are £70 for 50 minutes. Fees for couples are £90 for 50 minutes. Appointments are available weekdays and evenings. Weekend appointments by request.
